Dailymotion tests VOD pay

Relatively quietly, Dailymotion began to implement its video on demand pay.

For some videos, a yellow label made its appearance in the thumbnail display. It is the hallmark of a video pay, even if the beginning of each video is free.

Test began with episodes of such series as "Plus Belle la Vie". Such an episode is proposed € 1.99 for 48 hours rental, and unlimited access to all the videos are available for € 2.99 per month.

BFM Business reported that VOD is also about American series Shameless € 1.49 due to the episode, but the idea is to expand the range in early 2013. In this sense, discussions were held with "majors".

Orange holds 49% stake in the online video platform and has an option to purchase up to 100% of the capital in 2013. Orange have the ambition to offer its own VOD offering on Dailymotion, and catch-up TV channels OCS (formerly Orange cinema series).

VOD pay is a long term project of Dailymotion. In the past, officials had reported the launch of a streaming subscription fee, a range of movies, TV series and documentaries or offer video-on-demand subscription around 9 euros per month.
